In other news I ran 4 miles on the treadmill today at a 1.0 incline in 42 minutes. However due to my slow starting pace I was late to work. Luckily so was my boss…it all works out!

I am starting Yoga on Friday am….gotta get my stretch on to keep me limber for my long runs! I am trying out a place near work and doing hot yoga…not bikram. I am pretty excited to get back to yoga! It is so relaxing and it really helped when my ankle got sore from running before so I am hoping that trend continues.

I am hitting up a new burger place with my friend S and I am super excited! I haven’t seen her in ages and we have some major catching up to do. I am sort of contemplating getting a pizza at the burger place though…odd I know…but  I am so in the mood for buffalo chicken pizza it is almost controlling my life.

Do you ever get crazy food cravings? Is it better to give in and eat it or fight the craving?


Slight Hiatus February 6, 2012

Oops! I have been MIA for a bit. Work and life have been a bit hectic lately. Let’s just catch up and move forward here.

My in-laws are moving so helping them back has been a full time task. Luckily we all get along really well so aside from having to lug around heavy boxes it’s been enjoyable.

I have been tracking all of my workouts on you should check it out if you haven’t already. It’s a great way to keep me accountable and on track with training. I have been following Hal Higdon’s running plan for a half marathon and once I complete that (in March) I will be starting his Marathon training plan. His plan’s are awesome and help make these big goals seem more attainable.

I decided that on Fridays for cross training I have decided to hit my old trusty yoga. I need to strengthen my ankle and I always feel amazing afterward. Downside here is that it’s a 6:15 class near work. So that will mean up at 5 am on Fridays. Oh well…if getting in shape were easy everyone would do it right?

I am very excited to run the Frosty Knuckle 5K | Heat Event Management.This should be a fun time and a nice little 3.5 mile run! I am excited to run on the beach…which I am hoping is frozen!!

Ran 3.5 miles

Last night I did a little switch up and didn’t run at work (I work at a college so I get to use the gym etc). I met up with the Hubby to do my run on the local high school track.  Bonding time and exercise…what a combo!  We started out our run all bundled up and found the second corner of the track was completely covered in not on regular ice but also black ice.  So the equated to having to walk every time we hit that portion of the track. Nothing like breaking up the running flow. We did it but I am not going to lie…it was annoying.

After our run I went home and made homemade soup. This may not sound like an event worth sharing but I NEVER cook. My poor husband would starve if he relied on me. I got a recipe from my friend C and it was a breeze. Cooking isn’t so bad and now that I am obsessed with Pinterest I have found tons of recipes I want to try out. If you aren’t on Pinterest yet you are missing out! Great website and awesome way to pass time at work. Also you will be surprised by how cool you feel when someone repins something of yours! 🙂

I am hitting the gym tonight with my usual partner in crime to do a 3 mile treadmill run (oh the annoyances of living in NE) and weights. I have been really focusing on doing more strength training and it is sort of tough to squeeze in while I am on my Marathon training plan. How do you fit it in?

Here We Go!! January 25, 2012

Well I am doing it….I am biting the bullet and starting a blog!  I have been thinking about doing this for a while but with the exciting year I have ahead of me I couldn’t put it off any longer.

I am a new runner and by new I mean I started running last March when things in my life were a bit of a mess. I used running as an escape and a way to clear my head. As the story goes after a few weeks of huffing, puffing and hating it I started to look forward to it. It was really helping me to refocus and get back on track. I haven’t done any crazy distances at this point and I run about a 10 minute mile but I do it 4 times a week (minimum). I really love it!

This year is the year I  will do crazy distances, play Maid of Honor in a wedding, complete my MEd and buy a bigger house (maybe). The most obvious theme for this year is that I want to have fun and be happy!

I am training for the Dublin Ireland Marathon that is in October 2012. Ireland is one of my most favorite places I have ever been and I can’t wait to achieve this goal there. PLUS upon finishing I have promised myself a BIG pint of Guinness. It tastes sooo much better in Ireland!  During this training I will be doing a bunch of other races with friends and my husband. We will be doing the Ragnar Relay in Cape Cod-another one of my absolute favorite places-with 12 (14 if you count the van drivers) of our friends. 200 mile in 24 hours…why not? I am also a huge fan of mud runs and obstacle races. This year I am doing the Rugged Maniac, Warrior Dash, Run for your Lives, and the Spartan. The Spartan is the one that worries me a bit but my husband has this thing for Spartan Chicks so Spartan here I come!

Being Maid of Honor in a wedding was never on my bucket list. I suppose I figured it would happen at one point or another but I was not prepared for the craziness! Not to mention that my scenario is not quite how I would have anticipated it. I am the MOH in my Mom’s 3rd…yes 3rd, wedding. To say my Mom and I have a strained relationship is the understatement of the year!  There is a running joke among my family and friends that I am adopted. So this should be an interesting event.

I am on track to complete my MEd in December of this year!! Yay for being done with HW and school!! I do my courses online which make it easier but man do I hate homework!

My Husband and I are planning to buy a house too! We live in a condo now and we have quickly outgrown it. In addition to running we have both taken up cycling-so our bikes need somewhere to be stored. In New England outdoor storage is generally not the best option and with our condo association rules it isn’t allowed. With a puppy , two cats, two people, two bikes (which may increase to 4…Mountain biking?) and all of the things we require it is a bit cramped. So operation get things in order to buy a house is under way! That’s my puppy!! Such a cute little guy!

That is where we will start for today. 🙂
